Welcome, my name is Steve Smith. I'm currently a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am majoring in geology with the ambition of becoming a volcanologist. VOLCANOES Volcanoes have been my biggest interest since the May 18th, 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens. This interest has been increased since I had joined the Navy. During my time in the Navy I had been to three duty stations. As luck would have it, I was next to an active volcano at each station. Here are the three volcanoes I had been stationed near, and the dates I had seen them actively erupting: Mt. Etna, Sicily - Dec. 1992-93 Mt.
